A cool Mercedes... but what would be ultimate?

This is a cool Mercedes. (and it is for sale on Doug-bay, aka Cars & Bids)

But imagine combining that with these:

Mash them all up... (BTW, the TE wagon used to be 2-toned like the standard CE coupe pictured)

Take the pillarless-coupe 300CE as the base... graft on the back end of the TE wagon and the longer, lower front end of the sportier SL... and maybe a few Hammer-esque bits of a period AMG...

That would be a KILLER shooting brake, 3-door long-roof, unlike a mis-labeled 4-door coupe that seems to be the more modern trend.

Cardinal red is a gorgeous color. When I was shopping, I was hoping to find an E550 in that color. Saw a couple, but they were too far away.

I imagine you could get it on an S class?

I’m thinking that an S124 with a V12 would be a nice combination of fun and practicality, not to mention being pretty stealthy.

I’m sorry but the Zender 280TE has already claimed the title of the Ultimate Mercedes

It’s got roof-mounted headrests and a full mixing studio in the dash. Also, blue. Just like, an obscene amount of blue.

I’ve seen a few W212 (sedans) in that color, too.    I recall a lot of chatter about it on forums when it was introduced, maybe for the facelift.

I checked 15 and 16 W221 colors, no reds listed for this market anyway. I don’t recall seeing one in red.

I've seen a number of 212 and 213s in Cardinal Red, including a couple of 212 wagons. Never an S class though.

That is rare - it looks like it has a darker interior, too. The few E550s I saw in that color all had the beige leather. Not ideal when carrying 2 little kids in the back.

I prefer a non-black interior - but I am childless :) The light beige and porcelain colors can turn my head, but the brown in my wagon works, too.

My second 212 (early facelift car) had this very pale grey, probably a nightmare with kids:

Every now and then I’d remove jeans dye from the seat.

Notice the red car does not appear to have lighting package - that omission drove me nuts, a lot of E350s lacked it, dealbreaker for me.
